I just couldn’t belong to the story and nothing interests me. Blanc really is the story and what was the mania throughout the book all about? Please try again later. I love stories set in historic places and given that I have family in Istanbul I thought: I don’t know what I feel about the writer but this book of his bores the hell out of me!

El castillo blanco
The White Castle about the frictions and friendship between a Venetian slave and an Ottoman scholar was published in English and many other languages from onwards, bringing Pamuk his first international fame. A story that is not a story, just like a daily diary, very repetitive and with senseless and confusing characters. Even if very short, I couldn’t finish it.
Amazon Rapids Fun stories for kids on the go. The Black Book enlarged Pamuk’s fame both in Turkey and internationally as an author at once popular and experimental, and able to write about past and present with the same intensity.

El castillo blanco by Orhan Pamuk (1 star ratings)

I don’t like the stereotype of Muslims i This book is a winner of Nobel Prize in literature, I respect that.
For me this was a total disappointment.
Want to Read saving…. Now let me start by stating that this is a book I sought out as I am eager to read Pamuk’s other novel “Snow” but will only read an author’s books in the order they were written, and therefore needed to read this one, plus blahco next 3 before actually being able to read the one I wanted to read in the first place At least I can count it for the Bookcrossing.
Never have I fought so hard and so long to finish pages just to blajco the end realizing that there is no “benefit” to me other than that I can now say “I have read it” View all 7 comments.
